For the first time in 12 years, Louis Walsh is holding auditions in Dublin to put together his next big boy band.
Auditions started yesterday in the Button Factory and will continue through to tomorrow.
On Saturday, he called me on my radio show, Spin 1038′s Plan B, to talk about what he’s looking for, give me the gossip on this year’s (UK) XFactor, talk about his friendship with Sharon Osbourne and even ended up interviewing me!
Check out what he has to say here:
If you think you have what it takes to be a part of Louis’ next boy band, then head down to the Button Factory today and tomorrow to audition – good luck!
Yet again, Eurovision proved to be wild, weird and wonderful. Performances included a giant protecting a singer, a man doing interpretive dance in a box, glitter, sopranos, over the top costumes and lots more.
All 26 countries have now performed their songs and it’s time for the votes to be tallied. Who will get douze points and will anyone have the misfortune of getting nil point?
Just in case you missed it, and while we wait for the votes to come in, here are my top 5 performances of the night.
1. Greece – Alcohol is Free.
Loved this performance and the fact that it was one of the few countries to sing some of the song in it’s own language. If Greece wins, could you imagine the big party in 2014?! Free alcohol and lots of dance – OPA!
2. Denmark – Only Teardrops
Emmelie de Forrest has such a haunting/enchanting voice and love the actual tune. This voice and pop tune should not work but it does and the result is a catchy song that could turn Emmelie into a world wide star!
3. Ireland – Only Love Survives
This is Ireland’s best Eurovision entry in a while. Great song and loved the staging – from the celtic background to the fabulous bodhran players. I’d be very surprised if this doesn’t make the top 5!
4. Italy – L’Essenziale
This was very simple but very beautiful. From Marco Mengoni himself, to the way he sang the song.
5. Romania – It’s My Life
This isn’t getting a mention because it was a fab song, this gets a mention for the strangest performance of the night. Words do not do this justice, you just have to check this out for yourself.
In under an hour’s time the 2013 Eurovision winner will be announced.
Gavin Duffy is one of Ireland’s most successful businessman and through both DRAGON’S DEN and JUNIOR DRAGON’S DEN, he helps others’ business ideas come to fruition.
Recently I chatted to Gavin about his involvement in both shows, how he has gone on to become so successful in business, advice he has for entrepreneurs and more.
The current season of Dragon’s Den ended on Sunday but for the next 2 Sundays you can catch Junior Dragon’s Den on RTE1 at 9.30.
Australian singing sensation Cody Simpson has released the video for his latest single (the first from his second album, ) Pretty Brown Eyes.
Cody recently brought his Paradise Tour to Vicar Street in Dublin. I caught up with him hours before he took to the stage. We spoke about living out his dream, his friendship with Justin Bieber, balancing school with pop life, whether or not he would date a fan, and what his idea of paradise is.
Olly Murs recently played 2 packed gigs at Dublin’s O2 arena.
I caught up with Olly just before he went on stage for his 2nd gig. We spoke about his love for Ireland and his fans, friendships with Robbie Williams and One Direction’s Niall Horan, the real story about his friendship with Caroline Flack, whether or not he’ll be back for this season’s Xtra Factor and lots more.
I’m not usually a fan of reboots, remakes or reimaginings – or whatever you want to call them. When I heard that Warner Bros was going to reboot Superman I was very dubious. Why? Who could superpass Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel?
Well, today, after watching the latest trailer for Man of Steel, it looks like I may be eating my words.
It looks like Henry Cavill may aptly fill Christopher Reeves big red boots and with the supporting cast of Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe, this could be the Superman film we have all, unknowingly, been waiting for!
For the past 24 hours the internet has been going crazy with yet another rumour of a possible Friends reunion in 2014.
It all started because of a report starmedia.us ran yesterday. However, nowhere in that article are the people closest to the show, NBC or the cast quoted.
So Friends fans go back to watching the re-runs as this is just a rumour. Until we hear from NBC or any of the original cast members, it’s safe to say we won’t be seeing a reunion anytime soon.
In the report, starmedia.us say, “It’s still unknown if the original actors will accept NBC’s deal, but the dream of “Friends” reunion is closer than ever!” If the original actors don’t come back, it is not a reunion, it is a reboot.
Here’s the final ever Friends scene, which, as a Friends fan, I hope will always be the case!
